Update: The winner of the SHUTTERFLY gift card is…elaing8 ! Caridad also offered up the prize of her novella, NOCTURNAL WHISPERS–the winner of that novella is Raonaid.  Congrats!!

I can’t believe it–our last party post!!! Where did the day (and night) go?! Please remember, though, that all giveaways will stay open until noon (Central time) tomorrow. So if you haven’t entered all of the giveaways yet, there’s still time!!

And, since this is the last post, well, the perfect party person is wrapping things up for us–my friend (and amazingly talented author) Caridad Pineiro. Caridad, thank you so much for coming by! It’s always a pleasure when you visit!

 ***

There are so many special things about the upcoming Christmas holidays and I want to thank Cynthia for having me here to share them with you!  So in no particular order, here goes:

The one movie I always try to watch is HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS.  I love the ending where the Grinch realizes what is the true gift of the holiday season.

My favorite dessert, other than my sister’s wonderful flan, is fruit cake.  I’m the only one in my family that likes it, so I always have to buy myself a little loaf to enjoy.

The song that always makes me cry is “I’ll be home for Christmas.”  I guess I cry because I know there are many people, like our military and their families, that can’t be home and I’m very thankful for them and the sacrifices they make for us.

I love walking in the woods with my hubby and daughter to pick out a tree and chop it down.

My favorite food is roast pork on Christmas Eve.  This is a family tradition since we’re of Cuban descent, but I also make my hubby’s favorite – stuffed squid – since he’s of Italian descent.

I love spending time with my family and friends on Christmas Eve!  It’s great to get together, share what’s happening in our lives, and enjoy the wonderful spirit of the holidays.

I do like getting gifts on Christmas Eve and when Santa comes on Christmas Day, but I also love giving  to others.  I try to do that in a variety of ways and this year this hits especially close to home in light of all the damage that Hurricane Sandy has done to my beloved Jersey Shore.

To help others, I’m going to donate my share of the proceeds from sales of my newest release, THE PRINCE’S GAMBLE, from now until March 1, 2013 to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund.  THE PRINCE’S GAMBLE is available for download at Amazon via this link: http://amzn.to/UFCKRO or buy it at B&N with this link: http://bit.ly/WxipEv.

Thank you, Cynthia for having me with you today.  I want to wish you and everyone else a very happy holiday season and share this picture of me and my little sister with you!  The tree reminds me of a Charlie Brown Christmas tree, another holiday favorite of mine.

Caridad, I love that picture!! And thank you for sharing your favorite holiday things with us…And now it’s time for readers to share. What are “a few of your favorite things” about the holidays?  Since Caridad shared a photo, she inspired this post’s prize–a $25 gift certificate to Shutterfly.com. With the gift certificate, you can print holiday greeting cards–or even print up the photos that capture your new holiday memories.

Thank you all so much for coming to my party. I hope you enjoyed the posts! Happy Holidays!    –Cynthia

My most favorite thing is everyone being able to get together. Presents aren’t important, just spending time with family is. Sharing a great meal and having a great time together is all that matters.

Some of my favorite Christmas things. Going out and finding a cutting down the perfect Christmas Tree. Christmas in the Park. My little girl’s face with a the Christmas fun and lights and Christmas presents and Santa(she’s 2 so this is still new to her). And surprising my husband, he always guesses right but I do get him on one, once in a while. Wrapping the presents as pretty as possible because you just feel special getting a carefully wrapped beautiful present no matter what is inside

  13. Viki S. says:

One of my favorite things about the holidays is the lights. I love them. We also take a family photo every Christmas and I think I love that the most. It’s fun seeing how the family has changed/grown.
    Thank you.

The family and friends get togethers top the list of favorite things for this season. The good food and drink to go with the get togethers and the camaraderie in baking and craft sessions are another. Season it all with music and laughter and it is good enough to make it into the scene of a heck of a book. Another thing that I love about this season, reading as a break away from some of the busy holiday doings. Quite the treat.

  15. Minna says:

All those lights! It’s so dark this time of year.

  16. ELF says:

I think my favorite things about Christmas is the chance to give gifts. I love collecting little things throughout the year and sharing samples of some of my favorite treats at Christmas. Then, there’s the goodies that only seem to appear around the holidays…egg nog, peppermint bark, mint cocoa. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday!

  17. Shell says:

    Hiya Caridad & Cynthia!

My favourite thing about christmas is sitting in the living room to watch the Christmas Special of Doctor Who and Top Gear. Just running around after my family, making sure they have tea and coffee or wine or beer, making sure the Gran’s Kitchen is clean.

Going into town by myself and spending all my Christmas money on books, books, books and a subway 😀

    Kind Regards,

  21. My favorite things are snuggling up with loved ones, drinking hot chocolate made from scratch, baking until the windows turn steamy, snowball fights, and belching out Christmas carols with absolutely no shame. There’s something so magical about doing everything during that time of year… just the thought of it makes me glow inside.

One of my favorite things on Christmas is homemade crepes on Christmas morning 🙂

I love visiting with family at Christmas and seeing the smiles on my daughters faces on Christmas morning when they get what they really wanted! Well after they are fully awake…they are getting to the age they would rather sleep most of the time and it takes a little while…

  28. Irene says:

You had me until the roast pork and squid!

  29. Cindy B. says:

My favorite memories of Christmas as a child are when the whole family got together. We lived out of state and didn’t get to see our cousins and grandparents very often so Christmas time was a little more special. The uncles took turns trying to convince us kids there was a real Santa Claus by dressing up as him and passing out the presents. One year, we snuck up the stairs and “accidently” found the costume. We dressed one of the cousins up in it and went down stairs. Everyone got a real good laugh that year. Luckily, there were no little kids that had the idea of Santa ruined for them.

My favorite thing about the holidays is the excitement coming from my youngest. I have two teens and I’m lucky if I can get one smile from them, but I also have a Kindergartener. He is so excited right now and so much fun to be around.

  31. My favorite things about the Holiday’s is spending time with my family. My grandmother has a Christmas Eve party every year and we fit about 40 people into her house. I think we have 4 generations right now. And we have a great time laughing and talking and of course eating 🙂
The kids also love all the cookies and candy
So my favorite part about the holidays is def spending time with my family 🙂

  32. Leagh says:

Thanks for visiting Caridad. It is so amazing that you are willing to donate money to help with Sandy relief. I am going to purchase this book just so I can contribute a little bit. Happy Holidays!

  33. Barb P says:

When I was young, my parents always had 16 foot live Christmas trees in our house. They were kind of a pain to decorate, but when we were done, I would always lay down underneath it and look up. It was always so beautiful and awe inspiring. I loved Christmas in our house ( of course I love Christmas in my own house also!!!).

  34. May says:

Ooooh… that’s so great that you are donating money to such a worthy cause… Reminds me of what christmas should be about…

My favorite part: spending time with the family and eatin cookies!

  35. Colleen says:

Some of my fav things… the decorations, the music, my grandmother’s recipe for pumpkin pie… 😀
    Happy Holidays!

  36. Jolene A says:

I love the wonder and excitement that lights up my kids’s eyes! The lights, the music, the stories and the love we share during the holidays

  37. Thanks for sharing with us Caridad. I love your books a friend suggested that she thought i would like your books and she was right. Aztec Gold was the first one I read.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year too but my mother goes a little crazy (has like 10 trees decorated in her house plus tons of animated figures). Christmas eve is my favorite too because we go to mom’s and family that we don’t get to see very often are there so it’s really nice to be able to visit with everyone.

I love going through my ornaments when we decorate the tree – it’s a memory tree and we try and get at least 1 or 2 new ornaments every year for it (especially if we go on vacation somewhere that year).

Love the Grinch and The Year without a Santa Claus but can’t stand Christmas story either.

favorite thing desert wise is pecan pie or my grandma’s chocolate pie.

    happy holidays to you.

  38. Joyce says:

Spending time with my family creating memories which will share with each other next Christmas.

  39. Shannon says:

My favorite thing about Christmas besides family time is watching my children on Christmas morning. The way their eyes light up when they see the presents under the tree and when they open them to find things they asked Santa for and to find things that the “all-knowing, amazing” Santa thought of and they didn’t even ask for. The other thing I love about the holidays is the Xmas spirit. Not everyone gets it but many people seem happier and more polite during the month of December even if it is stressful and crazy!

  40. Janice Hougland says:

I have many favorite things I love about Christmas, that make the Christmas season my favorite of the entire year: Decorations, Baking, Family, Friends, Parties, Gifting, Singing Carols, Helping Others (strangers even!). The list goes on and on …

  41. CrystalGB says:

Hi Caridad. I love the music, the decorations, the Christmas cheer and spending time with family. 🙂

  42. Thank you all for coming by! Sorry I’m a little late, but we ended up flying home early and what a rush it was to finish up and make the plane.

I appreciate you sharing all the things that you think are special about the holidays and also the kind words about my books. I am so counting the minutes until I can get together with family and friends and just have some wonderful time together.
