DEADLY HEAT is out! And Giveaway Time! Back to Blog

Update:  Thank you all so much for the release day wishes and the great comments!  I think a lot of you are like me–you like reading about the FBI agents, but you aren’t sure you’d actually like the danger involved with being a real agent. But…there were some brave folks who were up to the challenge!

I randomly selected a winner, and the Amazon.com gift certificate goes to…Jennifer Mathis. Congrats, Jennifer!

Hi, everyone! It’s book release day!  DEADLY HEAT should be in a bookstore near you–or shipping from your favorite online retailer. (The e-book version of the book will be available on 2/1.)

DEADLY HEAT received a rating of 4 1/2 Top Pick from RT BookReviews, and the reviewer noted, “Deadly Heat is seriously hot! Taut conflict mixes with fiery romance to create a winner. Readers will enjoy a rapid-paced induction into the world of firefighters, arsonists and the FBI’s newest division. Deadly Heat offers the perfect amount of tension, character development and action-packed plot!” I sure hope readers enjoy the book as much as she did!

In DEADLY HEAT, fire fighter Lora Spade teams up with FBI Agent Kenton Lake in order to catch a serial arsonist. The attraction between Lora and Kenton is immediate–and it’s almost as explosive as the fires that they must face.

Here’s the blurb:

She wants revenge . . .

Six months after her lover died in an arsonist’s blaze, firefighter Lora Spade calls in the FBI’s elite Serial Services Division to track the elusive killer. When Special Agent Kenton Lake is lured into a violent inferno, Lora pulls him to safety and is stunned – not by the fire, but by her own searing attraction to Kent. For the first time in months, she longs for something other than vengeance.

He wants her . . .

Kenton’s interest in Lora should be purely professional. But one fleeting kiss and he can’t get her out of his mind. Her combination of strength and vulnerability makes him want to protect her, and that means solving this case – and fast. For even the passion igniting between them can’t hide a terrifying truth: Lora is the next target in a murderer’s sadistic, fiery game.

A vicious killer wants only . . .

DEADLY HEAT

Since I’m celebrating the release, I think that means we need a giveaway.  Want to win a $20 Amazon.com gift certificate? Then tell me why you would or wouldn’t make a good FBI Agent.  Maybe you should join the SSD!

    Hello,

Congrats on the book release. I wish I could say that I would make a good FBI agent, but that would be a stretch. Certain aspects like figuring out clues would probably be in my wheelhouse, but anything out in the field would not be pretty since I’m not the most athletically gifted person.

    • Cynthia Eden says:

As someone else who is not exactly athletically gifted, I do understand. Heck, I fall down walking into the kitchen most nights. What’s up with that?

  2. Cathy M says:

I would make a terrible FBI agent. I’ve never fired a gun, brain shuts down under pressure (so not good), a total non-athlete, and I am too much of a home body to be away from home working on cases.

  3. Casey Crow says:

Congratulations! Can’t wait to read it!

  4. Julia - Yen says:

Congrats on your release! I looking forward to read your DEADLY series! I think I wouldn’t make a good FBI because I don’t work will under pressure. And I’m afraid of gun 😉

  5. Denise T. says:

Congrats on the release Cynthia! I plan on picking it up tomorrow! Can’t wait to get my hands on it!!
I would make a good FBI agent as I am detailed oriented and am qualified with a gun from when I was in the military.

  6. Virginia Hendricks says:

I don’t think I’d make a good agent. I tend to wear my emotions on my face. And I’d probably lose my temper and beat the crap out of the bad guy.

    Congrats!

  7. Congrats on the release! I don’t think I would make a good FBI agent because I wouldn’t do well with the pressure – I would probably shoot someone!

  8. Cecile says:

Congrats on the release! What a great job! Awesome!!!
Hummmm… I would make a great agent. I eat up my Criminal Minds, CSI shows, lol!!! And I love my gun!!! Yeah, I own my own!
    Please count me in!!!!!

  9. Diane Sadler says:

Yes! I’ll be looking for it!
I would not be a very good FBI agent; I can never figure the ending of mystery books i have to read through to the conclusion. Also I can’t stand stupidity and probably would shoot someone.

  10. Michelle Cunningham says:

Good question! Sign me up for Quantico! I’d want to be an FBI agent. Why? I’d have to say the biggest draw for me would be the ability to change and save peoples lives. I know there are probably many reasons that it wouldn’t be a great job, but the idea that I’d be helping people who couldn’t help themselves would be very rewarding.

  11. GladysMP says:

I would make a good FBI agent. I love details and can definitely keep quiet about things I discover. I once had a guy in intelligence ask me to marry him, but I didn’t for reasons besides his occupation.

  12. Sue A. says:

I would NOT make a good FBI agent, because I wouldn’t be able to take down anyone due to my size limitations and I’m terrible at collecting clues and figuring out mysteries.

  13. Theresa N says:

Congratulations!!! I’d make a good agent because I’m always asking questions.

  14. Pam P says:

Congrats on the release, Cynthia! On one hand, I’m good at details and figuring things out, but on the other, I’d be a wimp out in the field, not athletic at all or handy with a gun. I’m a behind the scenes person, lol.

  15. trish dechant says:

I would not make a good SSD agent. I tend to be a scatter brain and as far a physically fit? NOPE. I sit at my laptop too much for that.

  16. JoAnna says:

Congrats on your release! I would NOT make a good FBI agent. I think I would be too emotional. I like to think I’m good in emergency situations like when someone has been injured. But based on how I freak out when one of my kids hurts themselves, I don’t think I really would be. I also have too much faith in people. I like to believe they are telling me the truth. More I think about it I would probably be the worst agent ever. 🙂

  17. Congrats on the new release! Can’t wait to read it.

  18. Lucia says:

I’ll be a terrible FBI agent: I don’t work well under prssure, I’m shy and afraid of making mistakes most of the time and I really need to be around something that’s familiar to me or I can’t function properly.
oh, and I dress really, really casual..
    Congrats for the release!

  19. Michelle says:

Congrats on your new release!! I would make a terrible FBI agent! I am not at all athletic. I can’t seem to think fast enough under preasure and….I need to face the facts…I’m a scaredy cat and my skin is not very thick..haha 🙂 I’m most definitely over sensitive. My feelings get hurt much too easily 🙂

  20. jennifer mathis says:

I would not make a good agent cause first I’m clumsy second you can’t really put chasing bad guys on the schedule and I’m lost with out my schedule
    meandi09@yahoo.com

    Congrat on the release 🙂

  21. azteclady says:

*throwing confetti* Congrats on the release!

I would make a good FBI agent because I keep track of details and spot inconsistencies without much effort (it’s a subconscious thing). I also seem to be the kind of people to whom virtual strangers tell things to.

However, I would probably suck at the handling guns part.

  22. CherylS22 says:

I wouldn’t make a good FBI agent because I’m not that brave! Thanks for the giveaway.

  23. Kerry Pacious says:

I think I would make a great FBI agent, I love research, following one clue to the next, digging through piles of papers to find the 1 thing that is needed most-I used to do research for the Federal Reserve Bank and loved getting dirty and digging through old files, boxes, micro-film, & micro fiche just tracking things down. But I really think I might have a hard time with the blood, guts, & gore aspect of being an agent. I’ll make my partner handle that part. LOL

  24. LSUReader says:

I might make a good office agent, because I’m organized, intuitive and good with research. But a field agent? No go. Uh uh. Now way.

Congrats on your newest, Cynthia. Can’t wait to read it.

  25. Rachel says:

Congrats on your new release! As for me, 5 years ago I would have made an awesome FBI agent but now… nah I would rather sit at home and read all of the great books you guys put out. Can’t wait to read it!

  26. Pamk says:

congrats on your new release. I don’t think I’d make a good FBI agent because I have temper and if I had some of those folks who hurt children I don’t know If could let them go to jail. Down south her I think its legal defense that he needed killing. Just like I don’t think I could work in the medical field. If someone was hurting a child I’d want to hurt them.

  27. Maria (pronounced Mariah) says:

I would not make a good FBI agent because I have absolutely horrible knees! One is all kreaky and the other goes out on me all the time ant that is after having surgery on it so that it wouldn’t be super kreaky and so my knee cap would fit in the groove!

Thanks! I am really looking forward to the next to books in this series!
